Week2 Journal

During this week, the most interesting lecture to me is Design. This lecture tells me how to design the layout of a website. According to the lecture, I understand the goal of designing a website is to
"allow growth and the creation of new pages while providing a clear, understandable structure that facilitates navigation and prevents your customer from getting confused and lost."
I also learned that the structure of a well-design website should includes things such as header, breadcrumbs, navigation and footer.

I found a related article, Designing A Website For 2014, which described several current trends of designing a website. I believe there are three major trends that people should consider carefully during website design.

Ø  Continuous Scrolling: this design element allow reader to scroll down a page and automatically go to the next page without clicking.

Ø  Larger Fonts: The font size in 2014 is expected to become larger because of improved screen resolution and greater screen sizes of computers as well as other electronic devices.

Ø  Responsive Mobile Design: Since increasing number of people use mobile phones to access web page, good mobile design of a website can attract more internet users and become one of the key trends.

The lectures and articles enhanced my understanding about why those companies' official websites require frequent revision and adjustment. And I also learned how important and helpful for companies to have a well-design website.

I attach a interesting video here to illustrate the importance of having a responsive website design to suit all devices, especially cell phone.

Week1 Journal

Hello, welcome to my blog. I will post my experience throughout this term and share my ideas and understanding related to internet marketing. Actually this is my first blog experience in my life, I believe after taking this class, I will know how to become a blogger and keep posting and recording my life in the future.

During the first week, I engaged with lots of interested materials related to internet that I never think about before. The most impressive material to me in this week is routing on the internet. Before reading this this article, I never think about how different information communicating with each other on the internet and how internet works on their route. I discovered that when I send email to other people, my information will connect to the internet through an internet service provider. And my email will break up into a series of packets to be sent out over the internet which build a lookup table. This lookup table will help my email to reach the destination.

I attached a interesting YouTube video here that I think can demonstrate the process of internet.

I also discovered one of the ways that hackers work to gather people’s information. According to the “Routing on the Internet”,

One very important thing to note about this process is that each node along a communication path can store and duplicate each packet that is received and sent on. All communication on the Internet can be intercepted without alerting the sender or recipient.”

Hackers can use this typical characteristic of internet to collect usernames and passwords. I guess this is one of the key reasons that why internet security always act as a significant problem and task for many companies or individual users.

I am eager to learn more interesting and helpful information related to internet market during the next nine weeks.
